A new survey finds that homeopathic medicines are primarily used by a small segment of the U.S. population for common, self-limited conditions such as the common cold or back pain. Homeopathic medicines that do not state a specific recommended use or purpose (see chapter 2.2.1 for a definition of each category). Homeopathic preparations of: pathological organs or tissues; causative agents such as bacteria, fungi, ova, parasites, virus particles and yeast; disease products; excretions or secretions.
