Have you ever wondered why good grades are so important to get into a medical school? In 2011, the International Medical Education Directory listed 59 current medical schools in the Caribbean. Medical students often feel pressured to understand hospital rules and culture even when they exist sub rosa. In the years that followed it seemed a medical school opened on nearly every Caribbean island.
Upon graduation, all medical students must pass national medical licensing examinations and a university-based comprehensive test. As far as I know, if you have not used your OPT during undergraduate studies, you should be able to use it after medical school.
Medical students typically engage in both basic science and practical clinical coursework during their tenure in medical school. If you rejected their offer of admissions – they already know that you don’t want to attend their school. As you can see it is important to do more than just meet the academic requirements to get into a good US medical school. Just keep in mind that it’s a matter of ranking and what characteristics are used to make it. It does not mean that if a school is ranked low the doctors coming from there are not excellent and highly qualified.
